A reciprocal frame (RF) is a self-supported three-dimensional structure made up of three or more sloping rods, which form a closed circuit, namely an RF-unit. 

 

The aim of this research was to create a complex reciprocal structure using a combination of patterns without an external joinery. Both physical and digital techniques were used; digital techniques were required to generate a 2D pattern while physical experiments were required to understand the successes and limitations of the created pattern.The aim of this project was to create a complex reciprocal structure that would break from a uniform dome geometry and would not have to use any external connection but mainly rely on friction utilising grasshopper's karamba features.
