HIVE MIND
The steel and acrylic installation was displayed at the BSSA Fall Architectural Design Exhibition in 2012.
The installation derives its concept from 'Hivemind' by Kevin Kelly, the collective mental activity expressed in the complex, coordinated behaviour of a colony of social insects, such as bees or ants. The installation is created with three dimensions of panels that within themselves have three degrees of openings. The process of building the installation included, lasercutting the panels, blowtorching the acrylic panels against a formwork to attain the desired angle and then riveting the panels together.
